Some paintings you just enjoy making from start to finish, and this was one of those for me. I pulled this old photo of my daughter (and her cousins) drinking hot cocoa on a camping trip. While making this piece, I thought of all those special places we visited and the wonder they instilled in our children. The birds are rising in the distance from some far off event – to me this is about the disruptive events in our lives – they keep us moving forward. We cannot stay forever in one moment, even an imagined place.
